Homer Finishes Seventh At 2008 NAC Juniors

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's and women's fencing teams competed Nov. 7-10 in St. Louis, Mo., at the NAC Juniors Tournament. Six members of the Red Storm competed in the tournament, which was open to collegiate juniors and younger.
Freshman Daryl Homer competed in men's junior sabre finishing seventh overall out of 182 competitors. Prior to joining the Red Storm, Homer placed third at the 2007 Cadet World Championships. Sophomore Martyna Wieczorek and freshmen Alanna Dunn, Jenna Mullarke, Nicholas Vomero and Robert Gobin were among the other members of the Red Storm to participate in the event.
"Homer competed well and was successful in his efforts to gain points towards qualifying for the U.S. men's national sabre team," said assistant coach Boris Vaksman.
The Red Storm fencing teams return to action on Dec. 7 for the Brandeis Invitational in Waltham, Mass. They will compete against Brandeis, MIT, Brown, Boston College, Cornell and Yale.
