Men's Tennis Tops Villanova, 6-1

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The St. John's men's tennis team picked up a conference victory on Thursday, defeating Villanova, 6-1, at the Villanova Tennis Complex. With the win, the Red Storm improved to 10-8 overall (3-1 BIG EAST), while the Wildcats fell to 4-11 (0-3 BIG EAST).
St. John's served up a sweep of doubles competition to take an early 1-0 lead in the match led by the duo of freshman Milo Hauk and sophomore Asaf Honig, which earned an 8-1 win at the No. 1 spot.
In singles, Hauk earned his team-leading 13th victory of the year with a 6-0, 6-2 straight-set win at the No. 2 position. Senior Gustavo Loza triumphed at the top spot by the same score over VU's Alex Leeser, while classmate Jordan Talbot defeated Zack Siegler, 7-5, 6-3, at the No. 5 line. Junior Derek Wallensteen and sophomore-transfer Stefan Nikolic rounded out the points for STJ.
The Red Storm returns to action tomorrow, April 10, when the team will travel to Bronxville, N.Y., to take on head coach Eric Rebhuhn's alma mater, Concordia College. First serve is scheduled for noon at the Meyers Tennis Center.
