Morris Tabbed As Louisville Slugger Third Team All-American

QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior Tim Morris has been named a Louisville Slugger Third Team All-American as announced today by Collegiate Baseball. Morris is the first St. John's position player to earn All-America honors from Louisville Slugger and the fourth player overall. Pitchers Craig Hansen and Anthony Varvaro were both third team selections in 2005, while pitcher George Brown earned second team honors in 2008.
A first team All-BIG EAST selection, Morris started in all 52 games and batted .415 with 12 home runs, 17 doubles and 62 RBI. The first baseman scored 69 runs, slugged .677 and added a .492 on-base percentage. The junior led the team in batting average, runs, hits, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
Through the conclusion of BIG EAST Tournament games, Morris ranked fifth in the conference in batting average, sixth in slugging and third in on-base percentage. The first baseman was also tied for third in hits, tied for sixth in RBI and tied for eighth in runs scored.
Morris entered the St. John's record books in numerous categories. In the single season books, the junior set a new school-record for runs scored and ranks second in hits, third in RBI, fourth in batting average, tied for sixth in home runs and tied for ninth in doubles. Morris now also ranks second all-time in the career record books with a .370 batting average.
