Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
Opening Statement:
"I thought Seton Hall did a nice job of taking us out of our game. We're still a little rusty. We have to get back to playing how we were playing at the beginning of the year. That's a sign of our league. We play in the best league in the country. I thought we did a nice job of finishing up and making some good runs. These two young ladies to the left of me did a tremendous job. Nadirah McKenith really got back on track with her assists. Da'Shena Stevens is really finishing as well as rebounding. She did a great job on the boards today."
On Kelly McManmon breaking the record:
"I was really proud of Kelly. She is one of the hardest workers to come through this program. She works extremely hard in the offseason and even through the season she spends a lot of extra time on her game. She was in a little bit of a funk but she's battled through it and the last two games and she's shot the ball extremely well. That really helps us from an offensive standpoint as it extends the defense."
On the team forcing 27 turnovers:
"That's been the strength of our team. I hope that we can continue to do that. I thought we did a tremendous job on Ebony Williams in the first half. She had zero points. In the second half, we let her get a little bit hot and she finished with 12. We kind of let up a bit on her and lost her a number of times in the zone. Overall, I was happy with our defensive effort."
On Nadirah McKenith:
"I think she's going to be one of the best point guards in the country. She needs to continue to work on her game. She needs to develop a mid-range jumper. She can beat most people off the dribble, she can create and she can make easy baskets for her teammates. She's a great young kid and she's just going to get better with time."
Da'Shena Stevens
On the importance of this win:
"Every win we can get right now is important. At the end of the season, we want to make it to the NCAA tournament. Coming off a loss, you don't want to lose two games in a row. We want to establish confidence, so this win was really important for us."
On any new adjustments made this game:
"In the first half we started off a little slow. But we picked it up on the offensive end in the second half. I thought we tried to defend more and shut down their key player in the first half."
On Kelly McManmon:
"Teams have started to pressure her more and get out on her shot. She works so hard to get open and we look for her. I'm really happy for her that she got that award today."
Nadirah McKenith
On her nine assists:
"I just felt like I had to get my team involved and penetrate to the basket so I can draw the defenders and kick it out to my teammates. That's the strength of my game."
