St. John's Competes In ECAC Tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The St. John's men's tennis squad played a pair of matches in the ECAC Tournament, hosted by Yale, going 0-2 over the weekend. The No. 5 seed-Red Storm took on the No. 4 seed-Cornell in first-round action on Saturday, surrendering in a 7-0 defeat to the Big Red. STJ moved onto the consolation round on Sunday, facing the No. 8 seed-Dartmouth, falling 4-2 in singles play.
The Red Storm moves to 2-2 on the season after tournament play.
Martin Kosut and Derek Wallensteen overcame Cornell in the No. 3 doubles slot with an 8-4 win over Jonathon Fife and Evan Bernstein for the only Red Storm win in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament.
In consolation play on Sunday, St. John's claimed a pair of singles matches against Dartmouth, with wins at the No. 2 & 3 positions. Sophomore Milo Hauk took a 6-3, 7-5 decision over Dartmouth's Michael Laser at No. 2 and teammate Stefan Bojic earned the victory in the No. 3 spot over Stephen Grief, 7-5, 6-2.
The Red Storm continues spring action on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Princeton at 4 p.m.
