Homer, Israelian Lead STJ During Third Day Of NCAA Championships

Boston, Mass. - During the third day of the NCAA Championships, Daryl Homer and Marat Israelian are each in first place and the Red Storm fencing team has continued to hold on to first place in the team standings with one day remaining in the competition.
Homer finished the day with a record of 13-1 in the sabre and was followed in the standings by teammate Sean Buckley who is in sixth place after he went 10-4.
In the epee, Israelian leads all competitors with a 12-2 record, and sits ahead of sophomore Nicholas Vomero who is in fifth place with a 9-5 record.
Alexis Landreville and Adam Watson finished ninth and 11th, respectively in the foil. They each finished the day with records of 8-6.
With 152 total points in three days, St. John's now has a two-point lead over Penn State, who sits in second place. Notre Dame (148), Harvard (113) and Princeton (108) round out the top five.
The Red Storm will return to action Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. for the fourth and final day of competition at the NCAA Championships. The St. John's men will look to hold on to first place and help the Storm capture its first NCAA Championship since 2001. St. John's has not finished lower than sixth place in the nation since 1993.
