St. John's Topped By Yale, 4-3

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The St. John's men's tennis team fought hard against an 11-5 Yale squad, but came up short Saturday in New Haven as the Bulldogs claimed a 4-3 decision. St. John's moves to 5-10 on the season.
The doubles point proved costly for the Red Storm after it captured just one match, surrendering the point to Yale. Martin Kosut and Pavel Cerny defeated Calvin Bennet and Marc Powers, 8-6, but the two doubles losses handed the point to the Bulldogs.
At No. 3, Asaf Honig topped Calvin Bennett, 6-7, 6-4, 2-2(3) for St. John's first point of the match. Mike Lampa earned a second point for the Red Storm at No. 4, winning over Daniel Hoffman in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Stefan Bojic claimed the final point for the Red Storm at No. 5, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 over Connor Dawson.
St. John's takes on Villanova at 10 a.m. and Connecticut at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 1 in its first outdoor matches on the Queens Campus this season.
