STJ Dominates Leaderboard, Takes Second At Hartford Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The St. John's women's golf team took second place in the Hartford Invitational on Tuesday at Rockledge Golf Course. STJ placed a whopping six players in the top 25.
The Red Storm carded a 322 in Tuesday's final round to finish at 635 (+59). Rutgers won the tournament with a 618 (+42). The Scarlet Knights' Brittany Weddell was the top individual after shooting 74-76-150 (+6).
Senior Lois Kim led the way for the Red Storm, taking fourth place after carding a 77-77-154 (+10). Freshman Mariana Barrios also posted a top-10 finish, tying for ninth with an 80-80-160 (+16). Seniors Renee Cloutier and Michele Romano tied for 11th. Cloutier shot 79-82-161 (+17) and Romano carded a 77-84-161 (+17). Sophomore Ellen Oswald tied for 19th after shooting an 81-83-164 (+20).
Senior Samantha Tejada led all players competing as individuals, tying for 22nd after carding an 88-77-165 (+21). Senior Ashley Szewczuk tied for 45th with an 84-91-175 (+31).
St. John's next heads to Innisbrook, Fla., to compete in the 2010 BIG EAST Championship April 18-20 at the Island Course of Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club.
