QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's tennis program is teaming up with the Running Through Walls foundation, which was co-founded by Red Storm tennis alum Lauren Lorenzetti, this weekend for its inaugural 'You Got Served' tennis tournament. The event, which will help raise funds to wage battle against childhood cancer, will take place at the St. John's tennis courts on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Noon.
The tournament is open to all St. John's students as well as the public, and will consist of free food and giveaways, prizes, a live DJ, contests, a raffle, and much more. All St. John's students can swipe in to receive eight MVP points. The tournament entry costs just $5 for St. John's students and kids 10 and under, and only $10 for non-St. John's students. A portion of the proceeds raised will go to the Running Through Walls foundation.
The Running Through Walls foundation is an organization co-founded by Lorenzetti and her sister and cancer survivor, Tara Lorenzetti-Wallace. It was created to promote wellness for children, adolescents, and emerging adults fighting their battles with cancer and life after cancer.
The St. John's women's tennis team, which will umpire all matches at the inaugural 'You Got Served' tournament, asks that all planning to attend please RSVP to RedStormTennis@gmail.com.
Following the charitable event, STJ will conclude its fall season when it travels to Hanover, N.H., to compete at the annual Big Green Invitational hosted by Dartmouth College from Nov. 4-6.
