Dartmouth Defeats St. John's In Rematch, 5-2

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Just one week after defeating Dartmouth College, 5-2, at the ECAC Indoor Championships, the St. John's men's tennis team was bested by the Big Green by the same margin at the USTA National Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Storm, who was coming off a big win over No. 68 Binghamton on Saturday, was handed its first home loss of the season and falls to 4-2 overall, while Dartmouth improves to 5-2 on the year.
The Big Green took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions to go up 1-0 on STJ early in the match. Newcomer Gustav Kallen and junior Milo Hauk won the doubles matchup at No. 2 with an 8-1 decision to improve to 3-2 on the year in doubles play.
Dartmouth won the first singles match at the No. 2 spot to go up 2-0, but STJ's ace Stefan Bojic, who missed the last two matches, got the Red Storm on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Michael Laser. The win improves Bojic to 3-1 on the season, with all three wins coming in the top singles flight.
The remaining four singles matches needed all three sets to decide a winner, with the Big Green taking three of four and securing a 5-2 victory over STJ.
Kallen won the other singles match for the Red Storm with a come from behind 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision over Dartmouth's Cameron Ghorbani in the No. 4 spot. It was Kallen's third-straight singles win.
St. John's returns to the courts on Friday, March 4 when it hosts local rival Fordham University at the USTA National Tennis Center at noon.
