QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's outfielder Jeremy Baltz has earned All-League honors for his performance in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Falmouth Commodores.
One of 15 players in the league that batted above .300 for the season, Baltz batted .321 in 42 games for Falmouth. The outfielder had a league-best 13 doubles and was tied for third with 23 RBI.
Baltz, who was in the starting lineup in the Cape Cod All-Star Game played at Fenway Park, also ranked fifth in on-base percentage (.434), tied for fifth in hits (45), seventh in slugging percentage (.457) and tied for eighth in runs scored (21).
The outfielder also batted .393 (11-for-28) with two doubles and three RBI in seven playoff games as Falmouth, which finished fourth in the Western Division in the regular season, surged in the postseason and reached the Cape Cod Baseball League championship series. The Harwich Mariners, however, swept the Commodores in the best-of-three title series.
St. John's has now had a Cape Cod All-League selection in back-to-back seasons. Joe Panik was an All-League honoree and won the League's Sportsmanship Award in the summer of 2010 before going on to become an All-American and a first round draft pick in the 2011 MLB Draft.
