QUEENS, N.Y. - Part three of the three-part video web series on Daryl Homer and Dagmara Wozniak will be available on the StormTracker All-Access section of RedStormSports.com and the St. John's Red Storm Facebook page tomorrow, Thursday, July 26 at 8:15 a.m.
Get to know Homer and Wozniak before they hit the strip with Team USA at the 2012 Olympic Games in London!
In the web series finale, the London-bound duo will discuss their long-standing relationship with Yury Gelman. Gelman, who will enter his 18th season at the helm of the St. John's fencing team in the fall, is appearing in his fourth Olympic Games as the U.S. men's saber coach.
At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Gelman and St. John's alum Keeth Smart led men's saber to a silver medal - the first medal U.S. fencing had earned since 1984. Gelman has also trained numerous Olympians at his Manhattan Fencing Club, including Homer and Wozniak.
Wozniak, a 23 year-old Avenel, N.J. native, is making her second-career Olympics appearance in London later this month. At the 2008 Games in Beijing, Wozniak served as a replacement athlete for the U.S. women's saber squad. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the U.S. and No. 12 in the world.
A first-time Olympian, Homer redshirted the 2012 college season to train exclusively for the Olympics. The 21 year-old Bronx, N.Y. native is currently ranked as the No. 1 men's saber fencer in the U.S. and No. 12 in the world. His honors at St. John's include back-to-back NCAA Championships as a sophomore and junior.
Each part of the three-part series (which concludes tomorrow, just a day before the Olympic Opening Ceremony) can be viewed in the StormTracker All-Access section of RedStormsports.com as well as the St. John's Red Storm facebook page.
