Team Notes
- The Red Storm outscored DePaul 42-40 in the paint, 14-12 off turnovers, 16-10 off second-chance points, 10-8 on fast break points and 22-12 in bench points.
- Shenneika Smith (24) and Amber Thompson (20) became the first two St. John's teammates to score 20+ points in the same game since Shenneika Smith (28) and Da'Shena Stevens (20) did against Liberty (Dec. 28, 2010).
- St. John's was +13 on the boards for the game, outrebounding DePaul 46-33.
- The Red Storm tied a season-high with 29 field goals made. The season-high was also previously set at Quinnipiac (Dec. 22) and against Iona (Nov. 21).
- St. John's improved to 17-11 on the season. The squad boasts an 11-5 record in BIG EAST play and 10-4 record at home.
- The Red Storm is now 15-2 when leading at halftime and 7-3 when scoring 60 or more points.
- St. John's snapped a three-game losing streak against DePaul dating back to Jan. 16, 2010 when the Red Storm defeated DePaul 68-51 at DePaul.
- Prior to the game St. John's celebrated the accomplishments of Nadirah McKenith, Shenneika Smith and Mary Nwachukwu and the dedication of senior managers Jonathan Ochoa, Alfred Lamour and Chinyere Ekwelum in honor of senior night.
Individual Notes
- Sophomore forward Amber Thompson set a career-high with 20 points and tied her career-high with 16 rebounds. Thompson made a career-high nine field goals (9-for-12) in her third double-double of the season and sixth of her career. The last time Thompson had 16 rebounds was also against DePaul (Dec. 7, 2011).
- Senior guard Shenneika Smith scored a game-high 24 points and tied a season-high with 11 field goals made. Smith also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists. The game marked 11th time this season and 18th time in her career Smith has scored 20 or more points in a game.
- Freshman guard Aliyyah Handford finished with seven points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. The five assists were one shy of her career-high set at Providence (Jan. 12).
- Junior guard Briana Brown scored seven points on 2-for-5 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.
- Senior guard Nadirah McKenith scored seven points, dished out five assists and blocked two shots. McKenith, the school's all-time assists leader with 587, has now tallied five or more assists in a game 18 times this season and 70 times in her career.
