Schwindel Earns First Team ABCA All-Northeast Region Accolades

QUEENS, N.Y. - Frank Schwindel, who is now playing professionally in the Kansas City organization, has earned first team ABCA All-Northeast Region honors for his efforts this past season with St. John's.
Drafted by the Royals in the 18th round (534th overall) of the 2013 MLB Draft and currently playing for the Idaho Falls Chukars of the Rookie Pioneer League, Schwindel was both a second team All-BIG EAST selection and a first team Capital One Academic All-District honoree in 2013.
The only player to start all 58 games on the year, Schwindel batted a team-high .349 and also led the team with 53 RBI. The first baseman had a team-high five home runs and added a team-best .502 slugging percentage, while finishing tied for the team lead with 21 doubles.
Schwindel, who concluded the season on an 18-game hitting streak, was the second-toughest batter to strike out in the league with just one strikeout every 13.8 at-bats.
St. John's went 23-35 (10-14) this past season and qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament for the 10th-straight year. Head coach Ed Blankmeyer recorded his 600th career-win and also notched win No. 612 to become the winningest coach in St. John's baseball history.
