Donadio Named MVP Of Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League

QUEENS, N.Y. - Rising sophomore and reigning BIG EAST Rookie of the Year Michael Donadio has garnered Most Valuable Player honors in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League following his standout summer of play with the Riverhead Tomcats.
One of just three players in the league to play all 40 regular season games, Donadio won the league batting title with a .378 average. The outfielder ranked second in the league with a .460 on-base percentage and fifth with a .580 slugging percentage, while ranking fourth in RBI (25) and fifth in runs scored (27). Donadio, who was also a League All-Star, finished tied for third in doubles (9), tied for fourth in triples (2) and tied for ninth in walks (18).
A Freshman All-American and a first team All-BIG EAST selection with the Red Storm, Donadio finished his rookie season with a league-leading 50 runs scored and ranked fifth in RBI (45) and fifth with a team-high .487 slugging percentage. The outfielder ranked ninth in the league with a .328 (62-for-189) average and also finished fourth in both on-base percentage (.434) and walks (31). In addition to collecting seven doubles, Donadio ranked tied for second in the BIG EAST in triples (4), tied for fifth in home runs (5) and sixth with a team-leading 92 total bases.
The fourth BIG EAST Rookie of the Year in program-history, Donadio led all BIG EAST freshmen in runs scored, RBI, triples, total bases, walks and slugging percentage, and ranked second among league rookies in batting average, home runs and on-base percentage.
St. John's concluded the 2014 season with a 35-20 overall record. The Red Storm finished second, one game out of first place, in the BIG EAST standings with a 13-5 conference mark and matched a program-record with a league-high eight All-BIG EAST selections.
