Graziano Signs Minor League Contract With Tampa Bay Rays

QUEENS, N.Y. - Former St. John's reliever Joey Graziano has signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays as announced by the organization. Graziano will report to the GCL Rays of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League.
Graziano ranks tied for ninth in program-history with 72 appearances, including seven starts, as part of a four-year career with the Red Storm. The righty went 7-3 with three saves and a 5.27 ERA in 111.0 innings of work in his career. Graziano also racked up 97 strikeouts and limited the opposition to just a .238 batting average.
The reliever was 3-0 with three saves and a career-low 3.24 ERA as part of a standout freshman campaign in 2013. The righty made a career-high 24 appearances as a rookie and totaled 37 strikeouts in 41.2 innings of work, while surrendering just a .164 batting average.
Graziano made 18 appearances, seven starts, as sophomore and went 2-3 with 26 strikeouts in 35.2 innings of work overall. In 11 bullpen appearances, the righty was 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in 16.2 innings.
The reliever had 18 strikeouts in 17.2 innings of work as a junior and totaled 16 strikeouts in 16.0 innings of work as a senior this past season.
