Hackimer Earns First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America Accolades

QUEENS, N.Y. - Thomas Hackimer has earned first team Academic All-America honors as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A two-time first team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection (2015-16), Hackimer becomes the first St. John's player to garner CoSIDA Academic All-America honors since Joe Panik (2011).
The 2015-16 BIG EAST Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Hackimer also won the 2015-16 BIG EAST Institutional Male Scholar-Athlete Award as a physics major with a 3.62 GPA.
This past season, Hackimer became the first reliever to earn BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year honors since 2005 and was also a unanimous first team All-BIG EAST selection for the second-straight season.
A semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, Hackimer went 7-3 with eight saves and a 1.17 ERA in 28 appearances. The righty racked up 71 strikeouts in 53.2 innings of work, while allowing just a .133 opponent batting average.
The reliever finished regular season action ranked tied for second in the BIG EAST in wins (7-1) and fourth in saves (8), while posting a 0.72 ERA in 26 appearances. The righty was sixth with 67 strikeouts in 49.2 innings of work and allowed just a .094 batting average.
In 10 league appearances, Hackimer ranked tied for second in wins (3-1) and finished third in saves (4), while posting a league-low 1.50 ERA in 18.0 innings of work. The righty had 20 strikeouts in conference action and held opponents to a league-low .069 batting average.
