Shee and Wang finish inside the top-15 for St. John’s
Kaitleen Shee paced the field for the Red Storm this weekend recording a three-round one-under 212 to finish second at the Yale Women's Fall Intercollegiate.
"Kaitleen played great this weekend," St. John's Women's Golf Head Coach Ambry Bishop said. "It was nice to see her finish second. I felt her ball striking was very solid overall and she made some key putts throughout her rounds. She had a couple chances to go even lower, but I know that will drive her heading into the next few weeks."
The Irvine, Calif., native recorded a 75(+4) in the opening round on Friday to enter day two seven strokes off the lead. The junior's three-round performance was highlighted by a day-two 67(-4), for her best round of the 2018 season this far. Shee fired a 70(-1) to close out play on Sunday and earn her second top-two finish of the fall slate.
Linda Wang finished inside the top-15 for the Red Storm, turning in a 224 on the par-71 6,093 yard course. Her three-round performance was highlighted by a 73(+2) on Sunday as she finished in a tie for 14th place.
Andrea Sanchez and Sofie Huseby rounded out scoring for the Red Storm, firing a three-round 235 and 270, respectively.
Boston University's Hanako Kawasaki won the event at two-under 211. She shot 67 (-4) in Sunday's final round to better Shee by one stroke.
As a team, St. John's finished 11th overall with a score of 941. Boston University won the event at 890, while Stirling of Scotland (895), and BIG EAST foe Seton Hall (898) rounded out the top three.
St. John's returns to action when the team travels to Seekonk, Mass., for the Brown Bear Invitational on Oct. 14-15.
