QUEENS, N.Y. - Following a stellar four-year career that saw her play an integral role on some of the most successful squads in the history of St. John's Women's Soccer, Shea Connors will begin her professional career with Knattspyrnufélag ReykjavÃÂkur in Iceland's top league.
Connors completed her St. John's career this past fall, helping the Red Storm average more than 10 wins per season during her tenure.
The New Haven, Conn., burst onto the scene as a freshman, earning a spot on the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team alongside teammates Allie Moar and Jesse Schaefer. Connors scored three goals in her debut season with the Red Storm, all three of which were game winners. She appeared in all 20 games and made 13 starts for a St. John's team that went 11-7-2 and reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament.
As a sophomore Connors played in all 20 matches and made 13 starts for a record-setting St. John's squad that won 15 games and took home the program's first-ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. She finished second on the team with five assists, as the Johnnies clinched their third-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
Connors enjoyed her best statistical season as a junior, pacing the team with 13 points and tying for the team lead with four goals. She also topped the squad with five assists. Under Connors' leadership, the Johnnies recorded double-digit wins for the third-straight season, going 11-4-5 and reaching the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament for the third-straight year.
As a senior, injury shortened Connors' season to 13 games, but she still finished second on the team in shots with 29.
Connors is the latest in a long line of St. John's players to compete professionally in Iceland, including current assistant coach Amy Marron.
