St. John’s Set to Begin Play at the West Point Invitational

St. John’s will be one of 20 teams competing this weekend at Army West Point

This weekend, the St. John's women's tennis team will compete in their second fall tournament of the season, as they travel to West Point, N.Y., to compete in the three-day West Point Invitational at the Malek and Lichtenburg Tennis Centers.
The Red Storm will be one of 20 teams participating in the Invitational. The other 19 teams competing in this weekend's tournament include Army West Point, Binghamton, Bryant, Colgate, Columbia, Connecticut, Fairfield, Fordham, Lehigh, Marist, Montana, NJIT, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, St. Bonaventure, St. Francis, Stony Brook, Syracuse, and Valparaiso.
All three days of competition will begin at the Malek and Lichtenburg Tennis Centers at 9 AM. Friday will consist of two rounds of main draw doubles and one round of main draw singles. Play on Saturday will include one round of doubles main draw, two rounds of main draw singles, and two rounds of consolation singles.
Only three matches are scheduled to be played on Sunday. The semifinal singles draw will be the first match, followed by the doubles finals and the singles final shortly after.
St. John's heads to West Point, N.Y. coming off a strong performance at the Columbia Invitational two weekends ago, highlighted by junior Jessica Livianu, who was crowned champion of the Brooklyn Singles Draw. As a team, the Red Storm captured a total of eight victories in the tournament.
