Women’s Tennis Travels to Army West Point for ITA Regionals

Four Johnnies are set to compete at ITA Northeast Regional Championships in West Point, N.Y.
QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2019) – The St. John's women's tennis squad, led by Head Coach Lauren Leo, will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships this weekend, hosted by Army West Point at the Malek Tennis Center.
Four Red Storm student-athletes are set to participate in the event, which serves as a qualifier for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, Calif., in November.
St. John's is one of 38 schools represented in the Northeast region. The tournament includes players from Army West Point, Binghamton, Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bryant, Buffalo, Colgate, Columbia, Connecticut, Cornell, Dartmouth, Drexel, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Harvard, Hofstra, La Salle, Lehigh, Long Island, Marist, Massachusetts, Niagara, NJIT, Penn, Princeton, Providence, Quinnipiac, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure, St. Francis Brooklyn, Syracuse and Yale.
Two rounds of qualifying singles matches will be played on Thursday with 32 players vying for eight spots in the 128-player main singles bracket. The main singles and main doubles draw will begin on Friday.
