Destiny Davis, Skyy Diop, Torisha LaForce and Leah Anderson secured first place on Saturday at the legendary NYRR Millrose Games, held at the New Balance Track & Field Armory, by snapping the program record by nearly a second with a time of 1:38.30. The Red Storm also competed at the Fastrack National Invite held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on Friday.
Typically known for the triple jump, rookie sensation Ja'Tae Joyner claimed a spot on the podium in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in second with a personal-best time of 25.65. The Bowie, Md., native also added a career-best time 1:00.15 in the 400-meter to her resume, placing sixth.
Fellow freshman Brianna Burkley also registered personal records in the 200 and 400-meter sprints at Ocean Breeze. The South Huntington, N.Y., native edged out a third-place finish in the 400-meter with a time of 59.80, just 0.03 seconds faster than Middlebury's Gretchen McGrath (59.83).
