St. John’s Sweeps Hofstra, 4-0

The Red Storm blanks the Pride for its ninth-consecutive win, improve to 15-5 this season
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team continued its dominant play on Thursday afternoon, blanking Hofstra, 4-0, at the Hofstra Tennis Courts for its ninth-straight victory.
The Johnnies opened the match by winning the No. 1 doubles bout. Andrei Crapcenco and Igor Maslov defeated Shawn Jackson and Coco Haener, 7-6.
Ognjen Trejgut and Alan Nunez Aguilera swept Ryan Hardin and Giacoma Pezzoli on the No. 3 court, 6-0, to seal the doubles point.
In singles play, the trio of Aditya Vashistha, Crapcenco, and Trejgut came up clutch for the Red Storm as they won the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5 bouts in straight sets to solidify the sweep.
Vashistha defeated Hofstra's Marcus Smith, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 1 match. In the No. 3 contest, Crapcenco topped Leinther, 6-3, 6-1. Trejgut claimed the final point and secured the victory on the No. 5 court, besting Pezzoli, 6-1, 6-1.
The No. 2 doubles match which featured Dusan Vukicevic and Vashistha went unfinished. Nunez Aguilera, Vukicevic, and Maslov all went unfinished in their singles' matches.
St. John's returns to the court for the final time before postseason play on Saturday, April 13, as the Johnnies travel to Pennsylvania to take on BIG EAST rival Villanova at 10 a.m.
