Andrea Sanchez Paces Johnnies on Day One of Hoya Invitational

St. John’s sits in fifth after first two rounds
Sophomore Andrea Sanchez is leading the charge for the St. John's women's golf team following the first two rounds of the Hoya Invitational.
Sanchez turned in a 151 (+7) after 36 holes of play to sit in a four-way tie for 10th place. The Cancun native saw improvement over the course of the day, shooting a first-round 77 before registering a 74 over the final 18. The sophomore's second-round effort was highlighted by five birdies, with four of them coming on the front nine.
Behind Sanchez, Jessie Kweon and Linda Wang recorded identical scores of 155 (+11) to both sit inside the top-20 entering the final round of play on Tuesday.
Alejandra Sanchez and Sofie Huseby rounded out scoring for the Red Storm. Sanchez turned in scores of 84 and 78, while Huseby carded a pair of 89s.
The Red Storm is in fifth place after the first two rounds, shooting a combined 623 on the day.
St. John's will be paired up with Akron and Quinnipiac for the final round of action on Tuesday. All teams will tee off at 9 a.m. in a shotgun format.
