QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2019) – The St. John's baseball, track & field and cross country teams collaborated with the League of YES during the University Service Day event on Saturday.
The League of YES is a branch of the Miracle League in Long Island. Its mission is to establish and sustain baseball programs for people of all ages and abilities. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for individuals with special needs to enjoy America's past time as well as a variety of engaging activities.
St. John's has been connected to the League of YES for all nine years of its existence. Women's basketball's athletic trainer Jill Christensen has played a major role with the Miracle League, helping to found the Long Island branch in 2010. Christensen has continued to have a big impact within the organization, serving as treasurer for the League of YES.
In addition to its partnership with the League of YES, the St. John's track & field and cross country teams have paced the university's athletic programs in community service in recent years, having also partnered with Achilles International. Both squads also spent time with its members last week.
