St. John’s to Host -/RV Creighton at Carnesecca Arena

The Johnnies and the Bluejays will showdown on BEDN Sunday at 2 p.m.
Fresh off a victory over Providence on Friday, the St. John's women's basketball team will look to improve to 5-3 in conference action on Sunday afternoon, when the Johnnies welcome -/RV Creighton to Carnesecca Arena for a 2 p.m. meeting.
The matchup between the Johnnies (11-7, 4-3 BIG EAST) and the Bluejays (12-5, 4-2 BIG EAST) will be available to live stream on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) with Sky Lindsay and Pat O'Keefe on the call from Queens.
Coming off a 64-58 victory over the Friars on Friday afternoon, the Red Storm will look to improve to 8-1 at home this season when the Johnnies welcome the Bluejays to Carnesecca Arena.
In the Red Storm's recent win over Providence, two starters eclipsed career milestones for St. John's, as Qadashah Hoppie and Alisha Kebbe became the 25th and 26th players all time to reach the 1,000-point mark. The program has now seen six Johnnies in six years achieve that milestone, as Hoppie and Kebbe joined former Red Storm standouts Akina Wellere, Aliyyah Handford, Danaejah Grant and Jade Walker.
Hoppie paced the way for the Red Storm in scoring against Providence, finishing with 16 points on the afternoon. The junior guard is boasting 17.2 points per game this season to sit fifth overall in the conference.
Tiana England, the team's leader in assists, is coming off an all-around stellar effort against the Friars. The redshirt junior stuffed the stat sheet for St. John's, recording 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor. England also recorded four boards and a team-high four assists, while swiping one steal for the Johnnies. England enters Sunday's contest, dishing out 5.1 assists per game to sit third overall in the conference.
The two rivaled programs are evenly split in the all-time series at nine apiece. No team has ever scored more than 80 points in a contest with the series dating back to 1997. St. John's enters Sunday's contest averaging 61.5 points against Creighton while allowing 55.9.
The two programs split the season series in 2019, as the Red Storm snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bluejays with a 51-45 win in the team's most recent outing in Omaha.
Through 17 games this season, Jaylyn Agnew paces Creighton with 19.8 points per game, sitting second in the conference and inside the NCAA's top-20. Agnew has hit 93.0 percent of her shots from the charity stripe, ranking fourth in the nation. In six conference games, Agnew has scored 23.2 points per contest while adding 7.3 rebounds. Temi Carda is the only player averaging in double figures in conference play for the Bluejays, posting 15.0 points per game.
As a team, Creighton has allowed the second fewest turnovers in the nation, giving the ball up 10.5 times per game.
Following Sunday's meeting with Creighton, the Johnnies will travel to Seton Hall for a 6:30 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Jan. 26, with the Pirates.
