Alex Kyriacou led the way for the Johnnies with a fourth place finish
The St. John's men's golf team turned in a final-round 299, jumping two spots to finish in a tie for third overall at the Lonnie Barton Invitational.
"We were in pretty good shape after the first day," Head Coach Mal Galletta said. "The team got off to a good start in round two, but it was difficult to catch Fairleigh Dickinson. I'm very pleased with our third-place finish. We will get back to work and look forward to our next event at Villanova."
Freshman Alex Kyriacou shot a one-under 71 to jump 14 spots and finish in a three-way tie for fourth.
Senior Gerald Mackedon and sophomore's Jack Simon and Tyler Gerbavsits turned in a two-round 151 each to wrap up play in a tie for 15th place. With a low-round 74 on the day, Mackedon jumped 11 spots on the leaderboard.
Gage Wolfle, who was playing as an individual, turned in a final score of 73 to finish inside the top-25.
Ryan Rittberger and Joseph Busiello rounded out scoring for the Red Storm with combined scores of 155 and 158.
Fairleigh Dickinson registered a combined score of 587 to claim the team title. The Knights' Andrew Morris shot a one-under 143 to earn medalist honors.
The Johnnies will return to action on Monday, April 6th, when the team travels to Malvern, Pa., for the Wildcat Spring Invitational, hosted by BIG EAST foe Villanova.
