Red Storm Travels to ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships

St. John’s will head to Boston to compete in eight events
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 5, 2020) – After racking up six medals at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in Ohio, the St. John's track & field team travels to the BU Track & Tennis Center for the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships this Friday.
The Red Storm will have 13 athletes competing in eight different events across the three-day meet. Those disciplines include the pentathlon, 60-meter dash, 200 meters, 400 meters, 500 meters, weight throw, shot put and the 4x400-meter relay.
Leah Anderson heads to Boston, Ma., after earning three gold medals at the conference championships last weekend. Following her performances, Anderson was named the BIG EAST Most Outstanding Performer and the conference's High Point Performer of the meet. The junior sprinter took first place in the 200 and 400-meter dashes with times of 23.63 and 53.76, respectively, before capturing the 4x400-meter relay title alongside Avon Samuels, Brianna Burkley and Skyy Diop with a mark of 3:40.45.
Anderson will also participate in the 60-meter dash for the first time since grabbing a first-place finish at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships on Jan. 31 with a time of 7.52. Junior Onassha Rogers will join Anderson in the event after picking up a bronze medal at the BIG EAST Championships with a mark of 7.68.
Throwers Amarys Berry and Samantha Morillo also earned medals last weekend with a second and third-place finish in the shot put. Berry claimed the silver medal after recording a distance of 14.76 meters while Morillo took bronze with a personal-best mark of 14.30 meters.
Najeaya Singleton will participate in the shot put as Bernadette McGowan and Ashley Walsh join Berry and Morillo in the weight throw.
Senior sprinter Destiny Davis will take part in the 200-meter dash after registering a qualifying time of 24.38 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 14. Chantai Smith will be the lone Johnnie running in the 500 meters while junior Antonia Frazier rounds out the Red Storm's 13 competitors in the pentathlon.
