St. John’s to Welcome Georgetown to Carnesecca Arena

The Johnnies and the Hoyas will tip off Wednesday at 4 p.m. on BEDN
The St. John's women's basketball team will wrap up its three-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming Georgetown to Carnesecca Arena.
Tip-off between the Johnnies and the Hoyas is slated for 4 p.m. on BEDN with Mike Watts and Ralph Bednarczyk on the call.
The matchup will be the second of the season between St. John's and Georgetown, as the two teams last met on Jan. 27 in D.C. In the first outing between the Johnnies and the Hoyas, Leilani Correa, who leads the Red Storm in scoring this season with 19.6 points per game, tied for a career-high with 35 points on 11-of-22 shooting. Kadaja Bailey also put forth a stellar effort against the Hoyas, notching a double-double with 14 points and a career-best 14 rebounds.
The meeting will be the 68th all-time played between the two charter BIG EAST members, with St. John's leading the series, 38-29. The Johnnies have seen success against Georgetown at home, boasting a 20-10 overall record in Queens.
St. John's will look to carry over some momentum from its last outing, a 65-47 victory over Providence on Sunday at Carnesecca Arena. In the win over the Friars, the Johnnies won the turnover battle convincingly, forcing 16 Providence miscues while surrendering just seven of its own, for its lowest turnover total this season.
Unique Drake knocked down eight of her 11 attempts from the floor to lead the Johnnies in scoring with 17 points against the Friars. Correa turned in 15 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and the sixth over her Red Storm career. Correa was one of two Johnnies to notch a double-double, as Rayven Peeples finished with 12 points and a career-high 13 boards. Bailey rounded out the four Johnnies to reach double digits, netting 12 points. The Long Beach, N.Y., native has finished in double figures in three of her last four outings.
Georgetown enters Wednesday's contest with an overall record of 1-13, as the Hoyas' lone win came against Butler on Dec. 31. Most recently, Georgetown fell to Villanova, 64-56, on Sunday. Graceann Bennett led the way for the Hoyas for the second-straight game, chipping in 13 points to go along with five rebounds against the Wildcats.
This season, freshman Kelsey Ransom leads the way for Georgetown in scoring, averaging 10.9 points per game. She is followed by grad student Milan Bolden-Morris, who is scoring 10.4 points per contest. Junior Jillian Archer is pulling down a team-high 7.3 boards per game to sit fifth overall in the BIG EAST.
