St. John's Fencing Collects Two Victories in Final Match

The Red Storm men’s team sweeps Sacred Heart
Queens, N.Y. (Mar. 7, 2021) – In their final test before the NCAA Regionals in three weeks, the St. John's fencing program tallied two victories against Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon in Queens, N.Y.
The Red Storm men's team was stellar on the piste all afternoon, sweeping Sacred Heart in both rounds.
The men's saber squad picked up 17 wins against Sacred Heart. Fares Ferjani and Dalton Walker both posted undefeated records of 6-0, while Mark Dammer notched five victories for the Red Storm.
The men's epee team tailed 10 triumphs with four of them coming from Cesar Colon. Maxime Tarasiewicz and Niklas Holland collected three wins each for the Johnnies.
On the women's team, freshman sensation Fanni Potz-Nagy remains unbeaten on the year, collecting nine wins against both Sacred Heart and Long Island University.
Third-place Northeast Regionals' epee finalist Arianna Pappone also tallied nine triumphs on the day. Salome Rodgers and Melanie Dolgonos each collected six wins for their respective teams.
Next up, the St. John's fencing squad will send representatives to the NCAA Regional Championships on March 26-28 at Penn State, in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
