Leah Anderson Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

Anderson captured three first-place victories at the Army Twilight Meet
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 27, 2021) – After registering three conference-leading marks and two top-100 times in the nation on Friday, Leah Anderson has been named the BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Anderson swept the 200 meters, 400 meters and 4x100-meter relay at the Army Twilight Meet last week. Anderson's 400-meter time of 52.95 currently ranks 33rd among Division I competitors while her 200-meter finish of 23.67 lists 85th in the NCAA.
The Johnnies' senior sprinter closed out the meet with Avon Samuels, Onassha Rogers and Brooklyn Chestnut in the 4x100-meter relay, posting a time of 46.07. The mark leads the BIG EAST and places 77th on NCAA East Outdoor Qualifying list.
The Red Storm's relay squad surpassed its former mark of 46.31 that was set at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on April 9.
St. John's will return to action on May 1 at 10 a.m. for the Tom Farrell Classic at DaSilva Memorial Field.
