Leah Anderson Breaks Personal Record at NCAA East Preliminary Championships

Anderson records a time of 52.68 in the 400 meter dash.
The St. John's track and field team closed off its season Saturday during the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Championships at Hodges Stadium.
Leah Anderson broke her personal record for the 400 meter dash after recording a time of 52.68 during the quarterfinal. Anderson outran her previous mark of 52.95 set during the Army Twilight Meet on April 23, 2021. The Mount Vernon, N.Y. native finished the season placing 17th in the meet.
Eleftheria Christogeorgou qualified for the Championships for the first time this year. The senior jumper recorded a height of 1.78 meters during the West Point Twilight Meet to qualify. On Saturday, the Athens, Greece, native left her mark of 1.72 meters in the high jump. Christogeorgou placed 30th, tying with five others.
"Our ladies were awesome today as they have been all year," said Head Coach Jim Hurt. Eleftheria had three good jumps at 1.77 meters and Leah lowered her PR in a gutsy race in her semi-final. Both return next year so the future looks bright for St. John's track and field!"
