WEST POINT, N.Y. (May 6, 2021) – Following a stellar performance at the West Point Twilight Meet, Eleftheria Christogeorgou will head to Jacksonville, Fla., for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Championships on May 27-29 at Hodges Stadium.
Christogeorgou took first place in the high jump after clearing a qualifying height of 1.78 meters. Her mark ranks 35th in the country and third in the BIG EAST this season. Christogeorgou's performance is also the third highest outdoor mark in program history, passing Kesha Roberts' height of 1.77 meters that was set in 1991.
Senior sprinter Leah Anderson will join her teammate at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in the 400 meters. Anderson registered a time of 52.95 in the event at the Army Twilight Meet on April 23. The mark currently ranks 38th on the NCAA top 100 performance list.
"We are very excited to see Eleftheria back in action for the Red Storm and her jumps today were fantastic," said Head Coach Jim Hurt. "Getting to the NCAA East Preliminary meet was a key goal this season and her performance will get her to Jacksonville. Meghan also continues to do well, and her vaults indicate big things to come."
Freshman Meghan Ladd took part in the meet alongside Christogeorgou, clearing a height of 3.15 meters in the pole vault.
St. John's will return to action at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 14-15.
