St. John’s Finishes Strong at Jasper Invite

The Red Storm finishes inside the top three for the second straight meet
MONTGOMERY, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2021) - The St. John's cross country team continued its strong start to the season on Saturday afternoon, captured a third-place team finish at the Jasper Invite in Montgomery, N.Y.
Claire Cushing once again paced the Red Storm in their first 6k meet of the season with a third-place individual finish and a time of 21:59.1, her career best for the distance.
Katherine Bruno continued her solid start to the fall season with a time of 22:16.1, good for fifth place overall.
Siena transfer Mia Forster followed up her solid debut at Van Cortland Park with second-straight top-15 finish and time of 23:05.4.
Rounding out the scoring for the Johnnies were Hannah Huleatt and Tiffany-Ann Matturro. Huleatt finished her second career 6k race with a time 23:38.8, which gave her 24th place overall. Matturro improved by five spots from her last race to finish 45th with a time of 25:40.3.
Jenna D'Onofrio finished the race just outside the top 50 with a time of 26:56.5.
This marks the first time the Red Storm has finished in the top five as a team in consecutive races to open a season since 2018.
St. John's will return to action on Friday, Oct. 8 when they make another trip to Van Cortland Park to take part in the Metropolitan Championships.
