Red Storm Readies for Villanova Indoor Meet

St. John’s will travel to Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the third time this season
QUEENS, N.Y.-Â After securing 12 top-three finishes at the MLK Tribute Meet on Monday, the St. John's track and field team will travel to Staten Island's Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex to compete in the Villanova Indoor Meet. The meet is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., starting with the women's weight throw.Â

Coming off a record-breaking performance on Monday, Leah Anderson will look to continue her dominant season and capture another win in the 200-meter race. Anderson holds the school indoor record with a time of 23.54. Saturday will mark the first time the Mount Vernon, N.Y., native has run the 200-meter dash this season.Â

Skyy Diop will make her 2022 debut, competing in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter run. After securing top-three finishes at the MLK Tribute Meet, Onassha Rogers and Brooklyn Chestnut will participate in the 60-meter dash as the sprinters look to continue their solid indoor campaigns. Rogers will also go for two consecutive wins in the 200-meter dash after winning on Monday.Â

In the long-distance section, Claire Cushing and Gabriella Caronia will take part in the 1,000-meter run while Mia Forster will compete in the 3,000-meter event.Â

Lasma Padedze will represent the Johnnies for the first time in 2022 in the shot put. The graduate student finished in third with a throw of 13.29 meters at the Bill Ward Invitational in December.Â
