St. John’s Concludes Successful Day at Villanova Indoor Meet

Leah Anderson collected her fifth win of the season.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The St. John's track and field team enjoyed a successful day on Saturday at the Villanova Indoor Meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
For the third consecutive meet, Leah Anderson notched a win over top competition, this time in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.11. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native has now tallied victories in the 60-meter, 200-meter, 300-meter and 500-meter races this season.
Jumps specialist Amanda Belgrave captured her first win of the season in the long jump with a leap of 5.54 meters on her fourth attempt. Belgrave also tallied a top-five finish in the triple jump, reaching 11.21 meters on her third attempt.
Skyy Diop continued her strong indoor season with a second-place finish in the 400-meter run and a time 56.01. Brooklyn Chestnut tallied her third-straight top-three finish, crossing the finish line in a tie for second, alongside Cornell's Jada Smith, with a time of 7.73.
In the 4x400-meter relay race, the top team of Anderson, Chestnut, Malia Jones and Zamira Ysaac recorded a fifth-place finish, less than a second behind Monmouth, with a time of 3:57.78. Samantha Morillo also captured fifth with a shot put toss of 13.36 meters.
The Red Storm will be back in action on January 28 when it travels to Boston to take part in the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
