Two Johnnies post top-100 overall finishes at Van Cortlandt Park
BRONX, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2022)- The St. John's cross country team competed against some of the best in the Northeast at the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning.
In a field of 34 teams, the Red Storm finished 27th ahead of Wagner, Binghamton and others.
In her first 6k race of the season, Claire Cushing led the way for the Johnnies, posting a time of 22:37.1 and grabbing 62ndplace overall among 338 runners.
After a one-meet absence, Ana Markovina returned to the course to log another solid time in a strong freshman season, crossing the line at 22:58.6 in her collegiate 6k debut.
Hannah Huleatt tallied a mark of 24:31.6 to finish third on the team while Jenna D'Onofrio posted a time of 25:55.9.
Tiffany-Ann Matturro rounded out the Johnnies scorers on Friday, logging a time of 26:15.6.
Ezgi Yasar and Gabriella Caronia did not compete on Friday due to injury.
The Red Storm will return to action on Saturday, October 29 when it travels to Attleboro, Mass., to compete against the best in the conference at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships.
