St. John’s Prepares for BIG EAST Cross Country Championships

Red Storm to battle against the best in the conference
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's cross country team will travel to Attleboro, Mass., to compete against the best in the conference at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The 6k race at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be streamed on FloSports.
The Red Storm return to the course after a two-week hiatus. Last time out, several Johnnies posted solid performances in the ECAC Championships on Oct. 14.
Claire Cushing paced the Johnnies at Van Cortlandt Park, logging a time of 22:37.1 to capture a top-65 overall finish. Cushing tallied her best career result at last year's conference championships in Carmel, Ind., when she grabbed 36th.
Ezgi Yasar and Ana Markovina are set to make their conference championship debut. Last time out, Markovina crossed the line at 22:58.6 to earn a top-100 finish in a field of more than 300 runners. Yasar did not compete on Oct. 14 due to injury but is poised to make an impact on Saturday.
Hannah Huleatt will compete in her third BIG EAST Championships. She enters Saturday's race after logging a time of 24:31.6 at the ECAC Championships. Gabriella Caronia will start her second conference championships and 6k race of her career. Caronia has made solid improvements in her sophomore season, including posting a new personal best at the Battle in Beantown on Sept. 23.
