The pair of veteran Johnnies tally yet another postseason honor
QUEENS, N.Y.- Two members of the St. John's women's soccer team garnered postseason recognition as Brooke Boyd and Jessica Garziano were named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region Second Team, the organization announced on Thursday.Â
Â
A member of the All-BIG EAST First Team, Boyd was a critical piece in the Red Storm defense. Boyd anchored a back four that allowed only 14 goals during the regular season in 2022. The Silver Spring, Md., native also made her presence felt on the offensive end of the pitch, scoring two goals including the clutch equalizer in a 1-1 draw against the Creighton Bluejays. Boyd was also outstanding in the classroom, earning a 3.97 GPA as she pursues a degree in applied mathematics, computing and machine learning.Â
Â
Garziano joined Boyd on the second team to go along with her All-BIG EAST Second Team and United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team honors. The senior midfielder provided the spark for the Johnnie offense, leading the squad in points, assists and shots. The Melville, N.Y., native scored four goals in her final season in Queens, including a tally in the Red Storm's semifinal match against Xavier in the BIG EAST Championship on Nov. 2. An education major, Garziano boasts a 3.90 GPA.Â
