Red Storm wraps USF Tournament with 2-3 record
TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 27, 2022) – The St. John's softball team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 25/25 South Florida on the final day of the USF Tournament at USF Softball Stadium.
USF's starting pitcher, reigning AAC Pitcher of the Year and Third Team All-American Georgina Corrick, struck out seven Johnnies in 7.0 innings of two-hit to improve to 8-0 on the season.
Natalie Alheidt logged the Red Storm's first hit of the day, a two-out single in the bottom of the second.
Natalie Casto singled with one out in the bottom of the third, but like Alheidt, could not pass first base.
The Bulls recorded both their runs in the top of the fifth. With runners on second and third, Alexis Johns singled to score Hallie Bryant before Jordyn Kadlub came home on a throwing error.
St. John's will return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
