St. John’s Hosts Midweek Tilt with St. Francis Brooklyn

Red Storm to face local opponent at the USTA National Tennis Center
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's women's tennis team will look to bounce back following its first loss of the season when St. Francis Brooklyn comes to the USTA National Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon. The first serve is slated for 12 p.m. in Queens.
On Sunday, the Johnnies fell to 2-1 after a 5-2 defeat to a quality Rutgers side on the road. After jumping out to a 1-0 lead by way of the doubles point, the Scarlet Knights held serve at home in five of six singles matches to come out victorious.
Redshirt junior Jayden Nielsen tallied her third singles win straight sets over Ruger's Sydney Kaplan, 7-5, 7-5. The Sacramento State transfer boasts a 3-0 singles record on the young spring campaign. In doubles, the pairing of the Mouna Bouzgarrou and Emilie Haakansson have shined, recording its third win of the season over the Scarlet Knights' top duo of Alissa Prinyarux and Daira Cardenas.
