St. John’s Hosts Creighton in BIG EAST Series

Red Storm and Bluejays set for 1 p.m. first pitch on Friday
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 31, 2022) – The St. John's softball team will hit the midway mark of BIG EAST play when it hosts Creighton this weekend.
The Red Storm and Bluejays will play on Friday at 1 p.m., Saturday at 12 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. Friday's contest will be streamed on FloSports while Saturday will have an audio-only broadcast available on RedStormSports.com. Sunday's game will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. All contests will have live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's recorded a 1-0 victory over Stony Brook on Wednesday afternoon at Red Storm Field. London Jarrard looped an RBI single into right field that brough Meisha Murray home in the bottom of the first to get the Johnnies on the board.
Murray went 2-for-3 to record her fifth multi-hit game of the season while Madison Wallace, Natalie Casto and Natalie Alheidt each added in a single. Hannah Mearns was credited with the win for St. John's as she combined with Angela Saric and Carolina Zamudio in surrendering just four hits and no runs.
St. John's went 0-3 last weekend at reigning BIG EAST Champion Villanova. Amy Mallah notched a two RBI single on Friday, another RBI single on Saturday and her first collegiate homer on Sunday. In Friday's contest, Saric pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief while Zamudio fanned four batters.
The Bluejays are 13-12 on the season so far with a league record of 3-4. Most recently, Creighton went 2-1 in its series with Providence. The Bluejays return unanimous All-BIG EAST Team member Kailey Wilson. Wilson leads Creighton with a .362 batting average and has recorded five home runs this season. Sophomore Emma Rosonke, the BIG EAST leader in RBIs, was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week after driving in 12 runs last weekend against Providence to continue leading the league in RBIs. She recorded a pair of three-run home runs along with a grand slam.
St. John's leads the overall series with Creighton, 11-6, including a 4-1 record at Red Storm Field. Last season, the Johnnies took the first contest of the series, 3-2, before falling in each of the next two by a combined score of 16-12.
