St. John’s Finishes Strong at ECAC Championships

Cushing, Diop and McKenzie all posted personal bests
BOSTON- Three members of the St. John's track and field program competed in the ECAC Championships over the weekend at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
All three student-athletes registered personal best times in their respective events as the Red Storm racked up 22 points as a group.
Skyy Diop continued her impressive season with a new personal best time and a win in the 400-meter dash at 53.62 seconds. Diop's time is the fourth fastest indoor time in the 400-meters, behind fellow standout Leah Anderson as well as program all-time greats Pariis Garcia and Claire Mooney. The Ontario native surpassed fellow Canadian Maya Stephens with her victory on Sunday to move into the top four. Diop also posted a time of 24.59 in the 200-meter dash to finish in 10th.
Tatyana McKenzie posted a strong performance in her lone event of the competition. McKenzie battled against the best in the region in the 200-meter dash, as she emerged from Sunday's race with a fifth-place finish and a personal best time of 24.36. The mark surpassed her bronze-medal winning time of 24.55 at the BIG EAST Championships last weekend.
The final Red Storm competitor, Claire Cushing notched a new career best time in the 3,000-meter run. A week after setting a personal best in the event against the best in the BIG EAST in Chicago, Cushing surpassed it with a time of 9:48.28, good for 14th place.
