Jackson Tucker tallied three hits on Tuesday afternoon
In his return to Richmond County, Staten Island native Jackson Tucker logged a team-high three hits in four at-bats while chipping in a run scored. Tucker has now reached base in 15 straight games.
Tate Ballestero tallied three walks and an RBI single on Tuesday, going 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored.
Austin Machado and Colin Wetterau notched an RBI apiece, and Paul Orbon and Chris Conniff each scored a run against the Seahawks.
The Red Storm (22-29-1) jumped on the Seahawks (16-32) right away by scoring three runs in the top of the first to pull ahead, 3-0. Tucker led off the frame with a single through the left side of the infield before coming around to score on a bases-loaded walk by Machado. After another walk with the bases full by Wetterau, Orbon raced home on a wild pitch to tally the third run of the inning for the Johnnies.
Wagner got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the second to cut the St. John's lead to one, 3-2. Cody Bey legged out an RBI triple to tally the first run for the Seahawks before coming in to score on an infield single by Quinn Mimnaugh for the second run of the frame for the Seahawks.
St. John's restored its multi-run advantage in the top of the fourth, scoring one to make it a 4-2 game. With runners on first and second, Ballestero lined a ball to left for an RBI single to give the visitors a two-run lead.
The Seahawks responded with four runs in the home half of the fourth to take their first lead of the contest, 6-4. After three straight batters reached with two outs, Brandon Glowacki smacked a two-RBI double down the left-field line to knot the score at four. Maimu Kobayashi followed up with a two-base hit down the line in right to plate two more runs and give Wagner the lead.
Wagner tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth, courtesy of a Griffin Selby RBI single, to make it 7-4 in favor of the home team.
The Red Storm will wrap up the regular season with crucial three-game BIG EAST series at Xavier. First pitch from Hayden Field in Cincinnati on Thursday is set for 3 p.m.
