Leah Anderson to Compete in Jamaica Trials

St. John’s standout will race in the 400-meter sprint
QUEENS, N.Y. (June 24, 2022)- After a stellar season in the red and white, St. John's women's track and field standout Leah Anderson will showcase her talents on the world stage as she competes in the Jamaica Trials. Anderson will participate in the 400-meter dash in the Women 20+ category on Saturday with the final heats taking place on Sunday.

Anderson is coming off a tremendous season for the Red Storm, garnering BIG EAST Most Outstanding Track Performer honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native holds the program record in the 400 and set a new conference mark at the outdoor league championships in May with a time of 51.92, a result that qualified her for the Jamaican National Championships.

Saturday will mark the first international competition for Anderson, a dual citizen of the United States and Jamaica, as she looks to reach the podium in Kingston.
