St. John’s to Host Seton Hall on Wednesday at Carnesecca Arena

The Red Storm has won three-straight and five of its last six meetings with the Pirates in Queens
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball team returns to Carnesecca Arena for the first time since Jan. 10 when the Johnnies host Seton Hall on Wednesday. CBS Sports Network will carry the national telecast at 8:30 p.m. with Andrew Catalon, Steve Lappas and Jon Rothstein on the call.
An audio broadcast of the game on the LEARFIELD Red Storm Sports Network with John Minko and Tarik Turner will also be available on a variety of platforms including the Varsity Network App, TuneIn Radio, RedStormSports.com and the St. John's Red Storm mobile app. St. John's radio broadcast can also be heard on SiriusXM channel 381 and channel 971 on the SiriusXM app.
A Red Out is scheduled for Wednesday inside Carnesecca Arena, as 5,000 fans will receive a "This Is Our City" shirt courtesy of Ridgewood Savings Bank.
St. John's (14-8, 4-7 BIG EAST) enters the matchup with the Pirates looking to build on its recent 75-73 win over Georgetown on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Four Johnnies finished in double-figures with David Jones leading the way with 17 points off the bench. Reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week AJ Storr delivered the heroics for St. John's, as the 6-foot-6 guard buried the game winning 3-pointer with four seconds remaining. Storr finished with 12 points to go with career-highs of seven rebounds, five assists and four steals against the Hoyas.
Dylan Addae-Wusu was also a bright spot for the Red Storm on Sunday at MSG. The Bronx native scored 15 points, burying four 3-pointers while dishing out four assists. Joel Soriano recorded his 18th double-double of the season, registering 12 points and 15 rebounds with 11 boards coming on the offensive glass.
As a team, the Red Storm pulled down 20 offensive rebounds against the Hoyas, which were the most since grabbing 22 against NJIT on Dec. 20, 2015. St. John's also had 19 assists on 29 made field goals, marking the most assists for the team in BIG EAST action this season.
The Johnnies will square off with Seton Hall for the 110th time in program history with the Red Storm holding a 62-47 edge overall and a 40-14 mark at home.
On Wednesday, St. John's will look to capitalize on the homecourt advantage and extend their win streak against Seton Hall inside Carnesecca Arena to four games. The Red Storm has also won five of its last six contests in Queens against the Pirates, dating back to March 1, 2008.
The last time the teams squared off at Carnesecca Arena was on March 6, 2021, when the Johnnies erased an 18-point deficit to stun their visitors, 81-71. Julian Champagnie scored 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting while Addae-Wusu recorded nine of his 14 points in the second half.
St. John's has not hosted the Pirates in Queens with fans in the building since Feb. 21, 2015. In that meeting, Sir'Dominic Pointer posted a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Red Storm to an 85-72 victory.
The Pirates (13-9, 6-5 BIG EAST) have won six of their last eight games since defeating St. John's on New Year's Eve at Prudential Center. In its last outing, Seton Hall went to Hinkle Fieldhouse and toppled the Bulldogs, 70-49, as Dre Davis led the way with 15 points shooting 5-for-8 from the field with three 3-pointers.
In BIG EAST action, junior guard Kadary Richmond has paced the Pirates with 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Richmond is also averaging 1.6 steals in conference play.
The Johnnies will hit the road for two-straight games following Wednesday's showdown with Seton Hall. St. John's visits No. 16/15 Xavier on Saturday before traveling to Butler on Tuesday.
