Red Storm set for second team event of the fall
The St. John's women's tennis team will resume its fall schedule at the Princeton Invite in New Jersey this weekend.
Red Storm will compete against players from Drexel, LIU, Princeton and Rutgers throughout the three-day event, beginning on Friday at the Lenz Tennis Center. Six of the eight St. John's student-athletes will participate, with Mouna Bouzgarrou and Arina Gumerova sitting out to prepare for next weekend's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Super Regionals doubles tournament in West Point, N.Y.
The Johnnies had a successful trip to the ITA Northeast Regionals this past weekend at Columbia University, racking up seven wins in total. Bouzgarrou picked up two singles victories while Nicoline Sartz-Lunde and Willa Bay Breunich teamed up for two wins in doubles competition.
Victoria Papadopoulou and Gumerova each picked up a singles win and Papadopoulou and Camila Ordonez tallied a win in doubles play.
Following this weekend's event and Super Regionals on Oct. 20-23, the Red Storm will wrap up its fall slate at the UB Invite in Buffalo in early November.
