St. John’s to Host No. 15 Creighton for Senior Night

The Johnnies will honor Eleonora Tosi and Amariis Garcia before the match
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's volleyball team will host No. 15 Creighton on Saturday for Senior Night and its home finale.
First serve for the Bluejays' battle with the Red Storm is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside Carnesecca Arena. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
Before the match, the volleyball team will honor Eleonora Tosi and Amariis Garcia for their contributions to the program over the last four years.
St. John's welcomes Creighton to Queens with a 12-3 conference record and sole possession of third place in the BIG EAST. The Bluejays and RV Marquette, who are tied for first place in the conference, have a game in hand over the Johnnies.
The Red Storm is coming off a 3-0 loss to Seton Hall on Wednesday. Giorgia Walther totaled a team-high 10 kills for the Johnnies. Wiktoria Kowalczyk provided a match-high 16 assists.
With wins over Providence and UConn last weekend, the Johnnies clinched their second straight BIG EAST Tournament berth and their fifth bid in the last six seasons. The squad also secured its second straight 20-win season and the 13th in program history. This season marks the fastest to 20 wins since the 2018 campaign when the program went 23-12.
Due to their play against the Friars and Huskies last weekend, Erin Jones and Ludovica Zola were tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Jones was previously tabbed to the honor roll on Sept. 11 and was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16. The sophomore logged 25 kills at a 37.8 hitting percentage with 27 assists, nine digs and three blocks across the weekend. Jones earned double-doubles in both matches.
Against Providence, the Albuquerque, N.M., product racked up 14 kills at a 42.3 percent success rate with 10 assists. When playing UConn, the right-side hitter tallied her 10th double-double of the season. Jones accumulated 11 kills at a 33.3 percent clip and 17 helpers.
Zola emerged as a force at the net for the Johnnies, as she earned her second-straight and third weekly honor roll selection of the season. The Milan, Italy native registered nine total blocks across the weekend, including six denials against Providence.
The sophomore added another six blocks against Seton Hall on Wednesday night. Zola has now notched six or more rejections in four of her last five matches.
Lucrezia Lodi totaled 23 kills, 14 digs, five blocks and two aces last weekend for St. John's. During the program's sweep over Providence, the sophomore notched a team-high 15 kills at a 56.5 hitting percentage, which is the third-highest in BIG EAST matches this season.

Kiana Schmitt is Creighton's leader in blocks with a league-best 94 at 1.09 denials per set. Schmitt also leads the conference with a 37.3 hitting percentage.
