On Johnnies Day, the University encourages the entire St. John's community and the city that it is proud to call home since 1870 to share their school pride both in person at MSG and on social media by using the hashtag #JohnniesDay. There will be a Penn Station Takeover with a pep rally that begins at 10 a.m. in the rotunda. The Z100 Party Patrol will be on site along with several St. John's giveaways, such as t-shirts, rally towels, and treats until tip-off. 2,500 Johnnies Day t-shirts will also be distributed to fans inside Madison Square Garden.

St. John's nearly sent the game to overtime on the final play of the contest, but Joel Soriano's bucket at the buzzer was waved off after an official review confirmed it was a split second too late.

St. John's looks to earn its third win in the last four home games against Providence. Earlier this season, the Friars edged the Red Storm, 83-80, on Jan. 7 at Amica Mutual Pavilion. Five Johnnies finished in double figures with Soriano leading the way with 16 points on 8-for-9 shooting.
