St. John’s to Take On RV Saint Joseph’s on Saturday

Red Storm and Hawks will meet for first time since 2018
QUEENS, N.Y.- After its midweek contest at Stony Brook, the St. John's lacrosse team will return to the friendly confines of DaSilva Memorial Field to take on Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Queens.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3, and live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
On Wednesday, the Red Storm fell to Stony Brook, 18-8, as the Seawolves used five-goal second and third quarters to outlast the Johnnies at Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium. The midweek matchup marked the midway point of the regular season for St. John's.
Sophomore attackman Brian Kelly tallied three points (one goal, two assists) against Stony Brook to bring his season total to a team-high 27. Kelly has logged multiple points in every start this season and sits one goal shy of 40 in his young career in a St. John's uniform.
Caiden Vlasimsky notched the first hat-trick of his career against the Seawolves, finding the back of the net twice in the second quarter and once in the third quarter to lead the Red Storm offense. After scoring his first two goals against Binghamton on March 4, Vlasimsky's natural hat-trick gave him five goals on the season and eight points.
Kyle Munson and Danny Seaman split time in net on Wednesday, combining for 12 saves on the afternoon. The netminders' efforts marked the seventh time this season that the Red Storm has logged double-digit saves.
Saint Joseph's enters the weekend contest with a record of 3-3, falling to Drexel, 18-16, last Saturday in Philadelphia. The Hawks received votes in the fifth weekly edition of the Inside Lacrosse and USILA Coaches Polls.
On the offensive side of the ball, Levi Anderson leads the way with 21 points on 15 goals and six assists. Carter Page boasts a team-high 17 goals and ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with 2.83 goals per game.
Robbie Seeley and Scott Macmillan have split time in net for the Hawks, combining for 37 saves and a save percentage of .346. The Hawks rank second in the country in face-off percentage, winning 67 percent of its matchups at the "x." Zach Cole owns the seventh-best face-off win rate in the country at .674.
Saturday will mark the fourth overall meeting between St. John's and Saint Joseph's and the first time in five seasons. In 2018, the Red Storm outlasted the Hawks, 12-7, at Sweeney Field in Philadelphia.
After facing Saint Joseph's, the Red Storm will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule when it hosts the Richmond Spiders on March 25 at 1 p.m.
